Monroe County Red Cross Book Fair

The Monroe County Red Cross is in need of volunteers to help unpack and place sorted books on tables for it’s annual Book Fair. There will be no heavy lifting, boxes of books will be on the tables. You will have an “old timer” to help you with questions. Lunch is provided, depending on when you work. Dates are Sept. 24-29, for unpacking, Book sale is Sept. 30-Oct. 4. Volunteers & Candy needed for local Fall Festival

The Bloomington Housing Authority, Boys and Girls Club at Crestmont and Big Brothers, Big Sisters will host their sixth annual Fall Festival on Oct. 29th, and they are in need of volutneers and candy. The Fall Festival will be on Oct. 29th and generally for those living in public housing in our community.

Fall Festival from 4-7 p.m., complete with carnival games like bean bag toss, cupcake walk, and face-painting. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, games and clean-up.

Transportation Volunteers Needed

Transportation Volunteers Needed Saturday 9/11. Spend time at the lake this weekend! Three attendees with disabilities are in need of a ride to this event. Volunteers will pick up individual at their home and transport to Paynetown by 10 a.m. with a return trip at 2 p.m. All volunteers are welcome to attend the Fish-tival event, spend time on your own at the lake or return for transport at the end of the program. If you attend the event, lunch will be provided. Park entry fee will be reimbursed.

About the Event:Southern Indiana for Independent Living will host a Fish-tival for 75 people with disabilities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at the accessible pier at Paynetown State Recreation Area on Lake Monroe.
Food, fishing, pontoon boats and awards will be provided. The DNR has waived the need for fishing licenses for people with disabilities. Bring rods and reels if you have them; they will be provided for those who need them. Lunch, fishing bait, T-shirt and awards will be given out. Staff or family personal attendants are welcome.
Registration is free but required; call 800-845-6914 or e-mail suzie@sicilindiana.org. Entrance to park is $5 for in-state vehicles, $7 for out-of-state.
